Hot weather service update - waste and recycling
Due to the extremely hot weather, we made temporary changes between Wednesday 24 June and Friday 26 June to protect our crews while they continued to work hard to collect your waste. Due to temperatures reaching 38°C, we suspended collections at 3pm today.
On Saturday 27 June, volunteer crews will prioritise collecting black, brown and food waste bins missed on Friday 26 June. If there is enough time, we will also collect recycling. If not, green bins will be collected on the next collection day. Crews will start at 6.30am.
Subject to weather conditions, we plan to return to normal operations from 6:30am on Tuesday, including bulky waste collections, bin delivery jobs, and the clinical waste collections that were postponed.
We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding while we keep our workforce safe.
In Peterborough, we collect waste from up to four different bins from outside your home:
Bin collection day
You can find the collection days for your black, green and brown bin using our postcode lookup tool. We collect grey food waste bins once a week when collecting your green or black bin.
Please make sure you put your bin out by 6.45am on collection day.
Report a missed bin collection
You can report a missed bin collection online after 5pm on your collection day. You have until 4pm the next working day after your scheduled collection to let us know. Please leave the bin out for collection.
Please note we don't return to empty missed food bins due to it being a weekly service.
Assisted bin collection service
We can provide an assisted collection service to residents who are unable to move their bins to the kerbside due to ill health, disability or mobility issues. For more information about this service, please visit our assisted bin collection service page.
